"The six years that our company has been publishing the Cook Islands Sun has been an enormous learning curve about printing and publishing and we have been well assisted and supported by Horton Media throughout the process. We are only a small company but we are made to feel as though our business matters.
We regularly seek technical advice and have always been talked through the process patiently and clearly. As we develop our business further we also regularly seek advice about printing options and costs.
Because of Horton Media’s print quality we are also able to boast a number of printing awards for our publications. And I regularly compare prices with other companies to ensure that costs, as well as quality, are competitive.
As a consequence of all of the above - we are using Horton Media to print the Cook Islands Sun."
"When I made the decision to start a community newspaper four years ago, I have to say I had no idea about the enormity of what I was about to undertake! Of course as an advertising consultant I was pretty confident about getting advertisers on board but as far as the layup, printing, distribution and all that other technical jargon – I was pretty much in the dark!
Luckily, I had heard about another privately owned newspaper and, after a bit of investigation, gave the owners a buzz and asked them where to start. The answer to this was spelled out in two words – Horton Media. As you can imagine, I was pretty excited to hear this and immediately gave the company a call. “Gudday” I said. “I’d like to start a newspaper and was wondering if you guys could help?”
Looking back and knowing what I know now, I’m surprised they didn’t laugh out loud. On the contrary, thank goodness, Matthew Horton arrived in Matamata and - at that stage with not having organised an actual office - we met at Subway! “How soon are you looking at producing your first publication?” he said. “In three weeks,” I replied!
Even though it was a whirlwind, with Matthew’s help and the assistance of the whole Horton’s team, we achieved my goal and today continue to produce a fortnightly community newspaper that is printed in full colour, vibrant, consistently sharp, clean and in perfect register from the first copy to the last.
Horton Media is more than ‘just a printer’. They take the needs of their clients personally and produce every issue professionally. This result I say with confidence is a major point of difference when recruiting new clients and advertisers and is, after all, what keeps us all in business. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending you take the first step – just make the call and the Horton team will take care of the rest!"
“As part of the University’s proactive approach to helping the environment, we wanted our Continuing Education publication to be printed on recycled stock.
Horton Media ended up being an ideal ‘fit’ with our own green policies, as well as being competitively priced and reliable.”
“If you know about climate change, and how everything is interconnected on both a macro and micro level, then it’s your choice whether you do something about it.
This is an environmentally conscious area, where many people are aware of sustainable practices and are passionate about it. Horton Media has proven to be proactive in the way it operates too, and as a result, has raised the bar amongst its peers.
Without question, it matters to us that our print partner understands that everything has consequences …. and has implemented processes to minimise those.”
"Like all small businesses these days I take great care when choosing our suppliers - when we made the move to Horton Media as our printer I was looking for some really basic things:
• a consistently high quality product
• on-time delivery every week
• open and reliable communication with sales staff
• good working relationships with pre-press staff
• assistance with production problem solving when required
• an understanding of our business and what is important to us
• and, of course, competitive pricing
Horton Media has delivered on these requirements and, while we may not be one of their biggest customers, they have made us feel that we are a valued client, and we look forward to continuing our working relationship into the future."
